Brutalities by Authority against Rohingyas in Maungdaw

1-     SaRaPha Officer Extort Money from Rohingyas in Northern Maungdaw
U Si Thu Aung is a SaRaPha (Military Security Affairs, SaYaPha) Officer in charge of the village of Kyein Chaung (Bawli Bazaar) and surrounding region, northern Maungdaw. Around 11AM on 15th May 2014, he and his best man, Abu Toyub (son of) U Furuk from middle Kyein Chaung, extorted Kyat 50,000 from U Ali, a bamboo trader, hails from the village of Dun-Paik of Aung Sit Pyin village tract. The accusation against him (U Ali) was that he sent one of his daughters abroad in marriage with a man.

On 5th May 2015 as well, he extorted Kyat 30,000 each from the following shopkeepers at Kyeing Chaung market under arbitrary accusations.
1)       Shariff
2)       Farid
3)       Habi ullah
4)       Laung dor
5)       Fedaan Ali and other 10 pharmacists.
Besides, he threatened people “I will do the way I want to. You can complain against me to anyone. I am afraid of none.” (Report by MYARF)

2-     Border Police Beat and Torture Rohingya Fishermen
Around 10 PM on 15th May 2014, Border Security Police at Auk Phyuma Camp, northern Maungdaw, inhumanely beat up two Rohingyas going for fishing in Phyuma River. The two Rohingyas are identified as
1)       Salam (son of) Abul Hashim (Age 35)
2)       Zafar (son of) Mohammed Shafi (Age ?)
And they are from the village of Ye Dwin Pyin (Kowar Bil), northern Maungdaw. (Report by Independent Source)

3-     Police Inhumane Beat Two Rohingya Teenagers
Two Rohingya teenagers were going for fishing in a nearby river in the village of Ye Dwin Pyin (Kowar Bil) around 9PM on 13th May 2014. Meanwhile, they encountered Border Police from Ye Dwin Pyin station. The Police brutally punched and kicked the boys so much so that they needed to get admitted to hospital. Their families are too poor not only to pay hospital bills but also to live daily lives.
The two Rohingya boys are:
1)       Jamal (son of) Shamsul Alam (Age 20)
2)       Amir Hussain (son of) Mohammed Salam (Age 15).

Police from the same station beat up Maung Aji Noor (son of) Atu Meah (of age 14) around 3AM on 12th May 2014 while he was looking after their fishery pond at Ye Dwin Pyin village. (Report by Independent Source)
