(Akyab), Arakan- Delegates from UNOCHA, WFP, UNDP and UNFPA met
internally displaced people at the camps in the village of Thakkay
Pyin of Sittwe (Akyab) township around 9AM yesterday. They discussed
on the severe humanitarian crises being faced by Rohingyas in the
camps.
“Delegates
from UNOCHA, WFP, UNDP and UNFPA arrived at the camps of Thakkay Pyin
in Akyab township around 9AM today. They mainly discussed on the dire
crises that internally Rohingyas at the camps are facing. Especially
food, water and health crises! The Rohingya IDP told the delegation
that no humanitarian has been privided to Rohingyas since the
expulsion of International NGOs through violent attacks by maruading
Rakhine mob on 27th
March 2014.
The
delegates, in return, promised that they would bring relief aids and
try to resume all their humanitarian activities as soon as possible.
They left the camps at around 10:00AM today” said, Saed, a Rohingya
in the region on 2nd March 2014.
